The Lagos State Environmental and Special Offences Unit (Taskforce) has debunked an allegation contained in a viral post on the social media by one Mr. Bimbo Gbenebitse, who claimed to be an Uber Driver, that his Toyota Corolla car (EPE 409 GN), impounded on the 21st of January, 2021 at Ojota by Police Officers in a T4 bus, could not be located at the Agency’s car park at Alausa, Ikeja.

A statement issued by the Chairman of the Agency, CSP Shola Jejeloye, described the allegation as totally untrue and fabricated, stressing that all enforcement operations around Ojota had been suspended since last year in line with the directive of the Lagos State Ministry of Transportation.

According to him, “After commencement of the road rehabilitation from Mile 12 to Ojota by the Lagos State Government, the Ministry of Transportation had directed that all enforcement operations be suspended by all government agencies along Mile 12 to Ojota to pave way for smooth road diversion for motorists by the Government”.

The Chairman also noted that the operatives of the Agency did not use a commercial bus (T4) for enforcement duties as alleged by Mr. Bimbo Gbenebitse, except a HILUX vehicle with a bold inscription of ‘LAGOS STATE TASK FORCE’ on its body.

He emphasised that all Police Officers attached to the Agency are always dressed in a black sleeveless jacket with a bold inscription ‘LASG TASKFORCE’ and name tags on their uniforms, declaring that any enforcement officer that does not fit such description is not with the Agency.

CSP Jejeloye, therefore, urged motorists to report Police Officers using commercial buses to arrest them for flouting traffic regulations, particularly around Oshodi, Abule-Egba and Ikorodu Road, by calling 08180442004 for necessary assistance.
