Abia Speaker Celebrates Father’s Sunday, Charges Fathers to be Role Models

The Speaker of Abia State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Engr Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji earlier today worshipped at Christ the King’ s Church (Anglican Communion), Ugba Ibeku Parish, and Saint Andrew’s Church, Isiama Afara-Ukwu Parish, Umuahia North LGA.

Speaking earlier at the Anglican Church, the Speaker said he was very happy to worship with the Parish especially joining the fathers in celebrating their Day.

He advised fathers to be role models in their respective homes because “the power of a father in a child’s life is unmatched and the greatest mark of a father is how he handles his family when nobody is looking”, the Speaker said.

He went further to advise fathers to be ambassadors of good parenting, infuse discipline and stability with compassion as bedrock of the home.

While thanking the clergymen and the congregation for their prayers, Rt Hon Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji promised to always avail himself for service whenever called uponbby the church and pledged to get a new car engine for the evangelism bus of the church.

The Speaker was presented with an Award of honour as “Golden Father and Motivator” by the church.

Afterwards, the Speaker joined the men of the church in cutting their cake in commemoration of Father’s Day.

From there, the Speaker headed to Saint Andrew’s Anglican Church, Isiama Afara-Ukwu Parish, Umuahia North LGA where as the Distinguished Guest of Honor he said he was delighted to celebrate with the fathers on their Day.

“Fathers are pillars of development in the family; they should be supportive and affectionate to their wives and children, and leave lasting legacies worthy of emulation”, he admonished.

While urging all to respect fathers, the Speaker prayed that God will continue to bless and protect the fathers in all their endeavors.

He thereafter joined the fathers to cut their cake in commemoration of the Day.

The Speaker who pledged to support the church in their ongoing project, said he will play a huge role in making sure that the church gets a vehicle for the spread of the Gospel.

Hon Ugochukwu Njikonye, Executive Chairman of Umuahia North LGA, Hon Eze Okwulehie, General Manager of Abia State Environmental Protection Agency, Chief Frank Ibe and other dignitaries accompanied the Speaker to the church services.
