Public activities for the forthcoming Eid el-Kabir celebration have been suspended again in Katsina due to the prevalent security challenges in the state.

Both Katsina and Daura emirate councils have announced the suspension of activities to commemorate the celebration usually characterized by public display of horse riding (Durbar) for security reasons.

However, the Emir of Katsina, Dr. Abdulmumin Usman; and Daura Emir, Faruk Umar, urged the Muslim faithful in the state to use the Sallah period to pray for the restoration of peace and tranquility in the state and the nation at large.

Spokesman for the Katsina Emirate Council, Iro Bindawa, while confirming the development, said his Eminence has implored residents to use the occasion to offer prayers for the state and Nigeria.

Recall that Katsina State equally suspended activities to mark the Id-el-fitr celebration that preceded the last month of Ramadan on the same ground of insecurity plaguing the state.
