Ibrahim Bamidele Salami, counsel to Yoruba freedom fighter, Sunday Igboho, has warned against extraditing the agitator to Nigeria.
Salami disclosed that Igboho may die, if extradited to Nigeria from Benin Republic.
The lawyer, who disclosed this while featuring on BBC Yoruba, said extraditing Igboho is the same as sending him to his early grave.
Salami claimed that the Nigerian government is desperate to make life unbearable for Igboho.
According to Salami: “What is important is for us to not allow them to extradite Sunday Igboho to Nigeria because if we allow it, everything he has done wrong and how the Nigerian Army hunted him, will be the same as sending him to his grave. And that’s the fight we are fighting in Benin Republic.”
Igboho had fled Nigeria after he was declared wanted by the Department of State Services, DSS.
The freedom fighter fled Nigeria to Cotonou where he was arrested at an airport while trying to travel to Germany.
DSS had declared Igboho wanted after a cache of weapons were discovered in his residence in Ibadan, Oyo State.
