The National Secretary of the Caretaker/ Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC) of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Senator James Akpanudoedehe has given clarifications on the presence of heavy security agents at the National Secretariat of the party.

Speaking at an emergency press briefing on Monday, the APC scribe explained that the security presence was to forestall the breakdown of law and order.

On Monday, fierce-looking police personnel took over the Secretariat of the ruling All Progressives Congress checking those coming into the secretariat situated at Blantyre Street, Abuja.

Some online reports had alleged that the law enforcement agents were working on threatening security intelligence.

He said “The police is here to strengthen the leadership of Governor Buni, the Caretaker Chairman of the APC. Whenever you have a security report that you are privy to, it is incumbent on our part to strengthen so that we can protect you, the life and property of the APC.

“APC cannot be embarrassed because this is a national government. Therefore we take measures to forestall any happening. We cannot underestimate security reports, you cannot play down on them. We can’t take laws into our hands. You don’t expect us to call thugs. The right thing to do is to inform the police” he said.
