A socio-political group in the fold of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Abia State, Youths For Progressive Alliance (YFPA), has advised fifth columnists to desist from evil campaigns of calumny targeted at the Minister of State, Mines and Steel Development, Dr. Uchechukwu Sampson Ogah.

The youth group said the lastest was a purported news feature published in a local tabloid, National Star Newspaper, dated August 9th-15th, 2021 where the writer made fictitious and slanderous claims of a power tussle for the soul of the APC in the state between Ogah and the Senate Chief Whip, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu.

It had been earlier reported that the YFPA had alerted Nigerians to an alleged plot by disgruntled political elements to launch slanderous campaigns against Ogah, following the exchange of brickbats by party members as a result of the outcome of the recently held ward congresses in the state.

In a statement signed by its President, Comrade Emmanuel Nwabuko, and made available to journalists in Aba, on Monday, the YFPA warned mischief makers not to drag the Minister to whatever or any purported crisis in the state chapter of the party.

The Abia group described as cordial and superp the existing relationships between Dr Uche Ogah and Kalu, and other leaders and members of the party in the state, cautioning never to-do-well individuals fanning embers of discord when there is none, existing in the leadership of the progressive party as the writer and sponsors want the public to believe.

The YFPA noted that the overwhelming acceptability and followership largely gained today in the state chapter of the party could be best attributed to the uncommon leadership zeal of the minister nurtured up from the private sector driven and public service.

The YFPA described as cordial the relationship between the two APC leaders, adding that Ogah cannot join in a clique of mischief makers and spent forces to destroy the party he had so much committed in building in Abia state, which has recorded greater development.

The sociopolitical organization further noted that the presence of Ogah and other well-meaning and progressive-minded Abians boosted the numerical strengths of the APC in the state, which saw the APC recording until now huge membership growth, and the party structures solidified in every wards and local government areas of the state.

The youth group further described the minister and the former Abia Governor as modern leaders of the state, ndigbo and the country at large, pointed out that the duo have displayed quality representation of the state in the national government which had ushered in impressive and unprecedented infrastructural projects in the state and entire southeast particularly in Abia north senatorial zone of the state.

The YFPA also maintained that the party was built on democratic ideologies and not by individual ideologies adding that it is untimely for party politics to be used as point of distraction to Ogah and Kalu, as the duo are busying attending to national assignments aimed at enhancing the welfare of the Nigeria populaces.

It vowed to publish names of those who have become clogs in the wheel of progress of the state and the party, to the national Caretaker Committee of the All Progressive Congress led by Yobe Governor, Mai Mala Buni.

According to the group, “these certain people have constituted as stumbling blocks to the quest of the progressive party to clinch power and provide democratic dividends, and address other yearnings of the Abia people.

“We have it on record that the last ward congress conducted by the party, and in a situation those sent from the party headquarter in Abuja absconded from duties, doing the biddings of certain persons running parallel structure of the party with the sole intention to divide and destroy the party in Abia state.

“We, the Youth For Progressive Alliance (YFPA), reiterated to urge the party members and supporters to ignore the antics of mischief makers who are bent on destroying whatever gains the party and the two leaders have made in Abia”.
