Chairman of the Taraba State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Alhaji Ibrahim Tukur El-Sudi, says the party has learnt from its mistakes of the 2019 governorship election and would not repeat it in the 2023 general polls in order to reclaim power.

APC lost power to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state following the intense crisis that engulfed it in the build-up to the 2015 general elections. The party also failed to reclaim power in the 2019 polls.

But El-Sudi, who is seeking a second term of office ahead of the October 16, 2021 state congresses, told Daily Trust yesterday in Abuja, that the party would recover if he is re-elected.

“The kind of mistake in 2019 will not be repeated, with the kind of experience I have gathered, and having known the kind of people that are aspiring to be governor, we will sieve the chaff from the grain and then bring a credible candidate.

“If I am given the opportunity to be the chairman again, we will not tolerate the kind of crisis that we experienced ahead of the guber elections in 2019. We will reconcile with each other. People are ready to sacrifice for Taraba once a credible candidate is produced without shortchanging any person at all.

“My number one target is to ensure APC produces the next Taraba governor. It will be useless to go into politics if you cannot govern your people very well.

So the APC will present a focused candidate who is experienced and who knows the pains of Taraba people to ensure meaningful development and security of lives and property,” he said.
