The Speaker of Abia State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Engr Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji earlier today joined in the celebration of Mr & Mrs Chimereze Onuigbo as they were joined in Holy Matrimony at St Stephen’s Anglican Church, Umuahia.

Speaking at the church service, the Speaker congratulated the newly wedded couple on their special day describing the day as a joyful and emotional one for him.

The Speaker said the day was joyful to him because the groom is his younger brother, and an emotional one for him because, as it pleases God, the father of the groom “is no longer with us today to witness this special day”.

“No marriage is perfect but I’m fully convinced that you people will work towards making a perfect marriage through mutual respect and by praying for one another”, the Speaker said.

He wished them the best of luck and prayed that God Almighty will bless the union with fruitfulness and prosperity.

In his sermon, the Anglican Bishop of Umuahia Diocese, The Rt. Rev’d Dr Geoffrey O. Ibeabuchi who took his Bible reading from Hebrews 12:2, admonished the couple to emulate Christ in all their dealings saying looking unto him at all times will help them adjust and accommodate one another.

The clergyman further advised them to always pay attention to each other even in their time of weakness as this will help them build an indivisible home.

Concluding, the priest prayed that God give them the grace to live in peace and flourish beyond measures.

The Clerk/Permanent Secretary of Abia State House of Assembly, Sir Dr JohnPedro Irokansi, former Deputy Chief of Staff to the Governor, Chief Charles Ogbonna (Evuleogu Ibeku) and other dignitaries attended the ceremony.

The groom is the son of Late Sir Johnson Onuigbo, former Abia State Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party.
