As the primaries of the All Progressives Congress (APC) approach, more delegates of Bende Federal Constituency have continued to pledge their loyalty to a popular philanthropist and aspirant to the Bende House of Representatives seat, Mr Theophilus Ubani.

Ubani, who is also a chieftain of APC in Abia State, is the chief executive officer of Top Two group of companies based in Abuja.

Some of the delegates who spoke to our Reporter in Umuahia, described Ubani as a consummate businessman, popular and grass root politician who has helped the people of Bende in various ways; even as they described the current representative of Bende Federal Constituency as very ineffective lawmaker and one always playing to the gallery.

According to some of them, “Bende does not need a rabble-rouser, but an achiever who has not only provided employment to the Bende people, but has effectively helped in community development in all strata. I believe that Ubani, given his antecedents, will offer credible representation if elected as our lawmaker.

“Recall that Hon Ben Kalu, who is currently in the Green Chamber for Bende, was accused last year of forging some documents bordering on age and birth declaration. Even though he got a reprieve from the court, some of us know the truth”, one of them opined.

“We can no longer nominate such a person to contest the Bende Federal Constituency at the general elections again, otherwise we may lose the seat in court to our opponent, and that would be disaster on us”, he added.

Said he further “Theophilus Ubani is an investor of note. His company is mainly into construction of power production of varied capacity and we’re happy that he has employed many Bende sons and daughters in it. He has in addition given scholarships to people and has assisted in community development from his Item Community to other parts of Bende”.

Meanwhile, Ubani, in an interview said he, apart from the usual business of lawmaking, oversight functions, will devote attention to the challenges of the power sector and will ensure that they are tackled head on.

“In the power sector, we’re quite experienced as a group. We have strong international partnerships, which is what has singled us out for recognition and that’s what I’m bringing to the table for Nigeria. And for my constituency, I’ll ensure that Bende is connected to the national and international scene through a well articulated infrastructural blueprint that will be to the benefit of all”, he stressed.

Earlier, the aspirant had pledged to assist the Abia State government to complete the dreamed Enyimba Economic City, saying “I’ll leverage on the entrepreneurial potentials of my people – Igbos – to attract what I call Entrapretech Universities”, not only in the Southeast geopolitical zones, but to other zones of the country.
