The attention of His Excellency, the Right Honourable Eric Acho Nwakanma has been drawn to the many spurious allegations made by the incumbent Chairman of Obingwa LGA, Michael Ibe Nwoke alleging that the former Deputy Governor is sponsoring attempts to remove Ibe Nwoke from office.

Nothing is farther from the truth, and such only exists in the uneducated mind of Mr Nwoke whose recent political adventurism and brigandage has put him at odds with the Party.

The former Deputy Governor and member of the PDP National Board of Trustees finds Mr Ibes rants as distasteful, ill-informed and revealing that the Council Chairman apparently is illiterate and unfamiliar with the expectations and obligations of the office he occupies.

Michael Ibe Nwoke has enjoyed the unparalleled political benevolence of Right Honourable Eric Acho Nwakanma who it was that nominated him for the position of Council Chairman in the first place, in spite of competing factors and more competent candidates.

Right Honourable Acho Nwakanma has intervened countless times in moderating the unskilled, uncultured and troublesome style of leadership which Ibe Nwoke brought to Obingwa Local Government. When Ibe Nwoke, as state ALGON Chairman, took an unpopular and ignominous route that brought him in conflict with the other LGA Chairmen in the state, it was the Right Honourable Acho Nwakanma’s fatherly intervention that pulled him out-of the fire.

There have been several intercessions and interventions by Acho Nwakanma that have helped Ibe Nwoke come this far in political career.

At the moment, the issues are constitutional as Michael Ibe Nwoko has run foul of the law and Acho Nwakanma will not be blackmailled into pulling him out of the fire once more.

By defecting to another party to pursue his political ambition while still an incumbent Chairman, he has breached the provisions of Section 23 subsection 1(f )of the Abia State Local Government Law No 2 of 2006.

The section clearly states that an Local Government Chairman or Vice loses claim to the position at the point of defection to another party.

His Excellency Right Honourable Acho Nwakanma has no role to play in instigating or influencing the course of legitimate action which either the PDP or the Local Government Legislative Council would take in relieving Ibe Nwoke of his position.

Therefore, His Excellency will not succumb to the Ibe Nwoke’s antics and blackmail as Nwoke slides into his self-made political oblivion.

Ibe Nwoke has made many unsuccessful attempts directly and by proxies to elicit Acho Nwakanma support to stop the obvious impeachment that is staring him in the face, as the law-abiding elder statesman and former deputy governor will not be drawn into Ibe Nwoko’s political misadventures anymore. Mr Ibe Nwoke should “go and pick up his towel where he had his bath.”

Mr Michael Ibe Nwoke, his cronies and his proxies are hereby warned to desist from maligning the respected name of His Excellency, Right Honourable Eric Acho Nwakanma, who is a former Deputy Speaker, two-time Deputy Governor, foundation member of the PDP, member of the National Board of Trustees and revered statesman in Abia State, because any and all legal means will be employed to to address these libelous rants.

Signed: A. C. C. Ugbaoaja,
Media Aide to His Excellency,
Former Deputy Governor.
