The president of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Prof Emmanuel Osodeke has revealed that the union is willing and ready to call off the ongoing nationwide industrial action if the Federal Government signs the negotiated agreement.
Osodeke who spoke during a television interview today, July, 5th said the union is waiting for a positive response from President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration after which the strike would be called off immediately.
According to the union leader, the only contending issues on the ground are the government’s acceptance of the University Transparency Accountability Solution (UTAS) as its official payment platform and the signing of the negotiated agreement.
He again accused the federal government of not taking the aggrieved lecturers seriously and withholding their five-month salaries as a punitive measure to force them back to the classroom.
