Hon Nnenna Elendu Ukeje hails Governor Ikpeazu for signing Female right of inheritance bill into Law

The candidate of the peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the 2023 Bende Federal Constituency election Hon Nnenna Elendu Ukeje has hailed the executive Governor of Abia State Dr Okezie Victor Ikpeazu for signing into law the FEMALE PERSONS RIGHT OF INHERITANCE OF PROPERTY LAW 2022 which provides for the right of a female persons to inherit and own property in their father’s house.

Reacting to the newly signed law on Wednesday, Hon Nnenna Elendu Ukeje said the new law will improve the lot of the Abia women altogether.

“I wish to celebrate The Governor of Abia state,Governor Victor Okezie lkpeazu(PhD) for signing into law a gender emancipating and uplifting Bill which seeks to reverse probably one of the most oppressive and dis-empowering aspects of our otherwise colourful and rich culture.

“For too long,poverty has worn a womans face in our society and the lack of access to land through the cheapest means,by inheritance only exacerbates the already pitiful situation.

She appreciated the State House of Assembly led by the Speaker Rt Hon Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji for working asidiously to towards the success and passage of the bill which is now a law in Abia State.

“This single piece of legislation will impact this sad reality in immeasurable ways and improve the lot of our women altogether”

She described the law as a truly worthy and priceless gift to all abia women and all fathers who find their daughters worthy but were hamstrung by culture.
