The Speaker of Abia State House of Assembly and the PDP flagbearer for Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal Constituency at the forthcoming general elections, Rt Hon Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji MNSE has admonished politicians to shun bitterness and campaign of calumny in their campaigns as “We will all remain brothers even after the elections”.

The Speaker stated this on Sunday at the Harvest and Thanksgiving Service of St Andrew’s Methodist Church, Ugba.

While addressing the congregation, Rt Hon Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji said the era of bitter politics in Abia is gone and that those seeking political offices should do so with decorum and decency in deference to the people they seek to lead.

He thanked the clergy for their efforts in guiding the people and leading them in God’s path, saying their task is an enormous one for which they cannot be thanked enough.

He reiterated his achievements in office as Speaker and highlighted passage of the Abia State Female Persons Right of Inheritance of Property Law by the Abia State House of Assembly under his leadership, donation and installation of power transformers to several communities that had hitherto been without light, water borehole and reticulation projects to several localities among others and promised to do even much more when he is elected into the Federal House of Representatives.

He challenged other politicians to engage meaningfully with the people by telling them what they have ever done for them even within the limits of their resources, and also what they intend to do for the people if elected to office, rather than embark on mudslinging and needless propaganda.

The priests led the congregation in praying for the Speaker.

Some candidates for other offices from PDP and other parties were also present at the service.
