– Alex Otti needs to respect that office he wants to occupy, as an Okezie & Otti ship can’t sail at once, Otti should be civil.
I welcomed completely the election of Dr. Alex Otti by Abians as Governor and I salute his courage & confidence, running election for eight years and finally grabbing power, in this part of the world, power is not given, it’s taken.
When one is elected Governor-elect, there is a process that officially makes you Governor, you wait three months and let your transition team liaise with that of the outgoing administration and within that three months, it’s a criminal offense to act as Governor, a state cannot have to State Governor’s at once, you don’t undermine Office of the Governor for whatsoever reason.
Alex Otti since announcement as Governor-elect has been discharging duties of the ‘Governor’, goes on project inspection, directs banks on how to release Abia money, communicate directly with contractors etc, yesterday, Alex Otti wanted to go on road inspection with Julius Berger, a road already awarded to another company, Alex Otti already promised Julius Berger that he would award the road contract to them, that would be Port-Harcourt Road, Aba, it was the DSS that stopped him from embarking on that law breaking move.
Information reaching me now is that drainage has been done on Port Harcourt Road and there is a subsisting contract with another grade A contractor, Septraco! In addition, that Abia State Government has secured AFDB facility for the road. In 30 days Otti will have f years to inspect all Abia. Abia cannot have two governors at the same time. Democracy has norms, and a democrat must respect them.
I am honestly worried about Alex Otti, a man that waited 8 years to become Governor cannot wait one more month to be officially sworn in, I hope he doesn’t make mistakes with this mandate Abians have given him, his recent moves are heavy red flags which he must curtail.
Alex Otti shouldn’t take the gentle nature of the current Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu for stupidity, even if you do not respect a person, respect the office he represents, remember in Romans 13 vs 1;
“Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God”
