Against the anticipation of people, Abia State Governor elect Dr Alex Otti has said that an airport is not necessary for Abia at the moment as his administration will not venture into such project.
PUO reports gathered that the governor while addressing his close aides at the weekend at his Isiala Ngwa countryhome advised them not to promote the issue of an airport as he won’t be venturing into such project as Governor.
It will be recalled that there have been calls on the new Governor elect to build an airport in the state before his end as Governor of Abia State following the opening of the Ebonyi State International Airport now Muhammadu Buhari International Airport built by Governor Dave Umahi.
Some of the supporters of the new Governor elect in an attempt to ridicule the outgoing administration in the state had said Abia was the only the in the South East without an Airport.
However Dr Alex Otti said the distance between Abia and the Owerri Cargo Airport was not far and as such the idea of an airport was not necessary as it is not so important at the moment.
