Members of the Abia State Renaissance Initiative have called on the Executive Governor of Abia State Dr Okezie Victor Ikpeazu to immediately constitute the board of the Abia State Oil Producing Area Development Commission(ASOPADEC) before handing over to the new administration in May 29th 2023.
Addressing journalists in Aba on Saturday, the state Chairman of the group Comrade Ekeke Boniface said the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria empowers the Governor to continue to perform the duties of his office till May 29th and nobody can take it from him.
“We are calling on our Governor to appoint and inaugurate members of the Abia State Oil Producing Area Development Commission(ASOPADEC) as it is still within his rights to do so”
“Up till this morning, President Buhari is still making fresh appointment and nobody has said it was bad, we do not know why it is only in Abia that some uninformed people want the Governor to surrender governance because his party lost election”
Comrade Ekeke called on Abians to continue to give the Governor the needed support as he prepares to leave office come May 29th 2023.
