A federal high court sitting in Abuja today struck out the suit filed by Senator Emma Nwaka and Chief Lucky Igbokwe challenging the candidature of Sir Okey Ahiwe, the Abia PDP governorship candidate in the 2023 general election for lack of merit.

Senator Emma Nwaka had approached the federal high court and prayed the court to disqualify Sir Okey Ahiwe as a candidate for the election on the ground that he had not originally contested the May 2022 Abia guber primary that produced late Prof. Uche Ikonne as the PDP candidate before his death ahead of Abia 2023 guber election, prompting INEC to mandate the PDP to replace Prof. Uche Ikonne.

Though Senator Emma Nwaka also contested in the by-election to replace Prof. Ikonne, he lost the ticket to Sir Okey Ahiwe. He subsequently filed the suit challenging the emergence of Sir Okey Ahiwe as Abia PDP candidate and joined INEC as the second respondent.

The victory of Sir Okey Ahiwe at the federal high court is a victory for the PDP and the good people of Abia State and it signposts the beginning of the victories that await all of us in the future.

We call on Senator Emma Nwaka and Chief Lucky Igbokwe to accept the judgement in utmost good faith and see it as a victory for the PDP family. We enjoin them and other estranged members of the PDP to understand that the PDP is a large umbrella that can contain all of us who desire for good governance and the best for our people. As usual, the door is very open for all estranged members and others willing to join the happy family of the PDP.

We call on the members of the PDP and the good people of Abia State to remain calm, peaceful and law abiding as we await the ultimate victory for the PDP at the election petition tribunal and afterwards.

*Congratulations Sir Okey Ahiwe and the Abia PDP on your victory at the federal high court*

*PDP – Power to the People!*

Signed

*Hon. Elder Abraham Amah*

*Abia PDP Vice Chairman/Acting State Publicity Secretary*
