The chairman of Human Rights Defenders (HURIDE), Sampson Oko Nweke, has buried his brother, who was k!illed by suspected political thugs at a polling unit during the governorship and state House of Assembly elections at Ogboji ward in Ezza Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.

The deceased,36, was laid to rest on Saturday, August 19, 2023, in his hometown.

Taking to Facebook after the internment, the activist urged his brother to join forces with their ancestors and hunt those who ki!lled him.

“Dear brother Nweke Peter JP . It is too hard to address you as “late”. But it’s obvious, we can’t change the fate but resign to same,” he wrote.

On the guber election date of 18th March,2023, armed political thugs invaded our voting center and murd£ŕed you in a most gruesome manner. On the fateful day, safe for providence, I would have been shot d£ad by same assailants who surrendered me with AK47 riffle for more than five minutes.

To mourn your sudden d£ath, I voluntarily quitted Facebook since the unfortunate day of your murd£r and promised never to appear here until a day like this, when the world will gather in your country home for your last respect and ultimate internment.

Bro Peter, we were awake together up till 3am on the Friday night before the cursed election day. On the fateful election morning, we were also together inside the school building when we saw the hoodlums coming in two motorcycles. One Ogbonnia Nweke was there with us and one other Ogbonnia Nwezza was also there with us. You knew how we all scampered for safety towards the bush paths at the sight of the suspiciously speeding motorcycles. It is so unfortunate that you couldn’t survive the horror experience to enable you recount same yourself.

Dear brother, do you know that as painful as your d£ath is, even in the face of the obvious realities of same; it is so unfortunate that I was made the scapegoat by my powerful enemies and their d£adly cronies. You knew how they had tried and failed in the past. But they quickly saw opportunities in your d£ath and tried to utilize it to execute their long-hatched evil agenda against me. They said I kill£d you.

They said I’m not related to you in any way. Some said I was the one who called the kill£rs to come and ki!ll you while others said I was the one who pointed you out to be kill£d. They also said I used my Sienna car to kidn@p one APC secretary of our neighbouring Nkomoro community who went missing, weeks before the elections.

These are the lies the political d£vils and envious folks from our community concocted against me and also hypnotized many others to chant the chorus and remain so impervious to the glaring truths, all in bids to pull Oko Nweke down.

They even paid the media to make odious publications against me. It was when it became so obvious that these £vil merchants were h£ll-bent to eliminate me using your d£ath as a pretext, I had no better option than to flee the state for my own safety. Since then, my location have remained unknown to them. I will tell the world my story in due time.

Therefore, dear brother; as you are being laid to rest today, may you join forces with the spirits of our ancestors to arise and hunt those who kill£d you. Those who were part of any plan, discussion or agreement to k!ill you, don’t spare them. Those who by any means heard or knew about any such plan as to k!ill you, even if I’m involved, don’t spare them.

Above all, those who saw the condition of your d£ath as an opportunity to hunt and hound personal or perceived enemies, may you not spare them. Those who saw your d£ath as an opportunity to cash out, mend fences and make connections; don’t spare them. May they and their households never know peace neither will they ever know progress.

May pains, confusion, stagnation, poverty, backwardness and more remain their lots until they either confess alive and be free or end up in grav£ in a way more horrendous than yours. Amen. Adieu, dear brother.
