Abia: We will hold govt accountable – New NNPP Chairman

On Monday the newly appointed acting Chairman of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP, Anthony Kelechi Apugo has promised to provide constructive opposition in the state, with the view of ensuring accountability in governance.

Apugo, who stated this at Ojukwu bunker, Umuahia after his appointment by the party, also appealed to members of the party who defected to other political parties in the past, to return to NNPP and help in the rebuilding efforts he has started.

He said his appointment, together with Kanu Amogu J., who is now the acting State Secretary, would usher in a new era for the party in Abia State.

“Our focus is on holding the government accountable, advocating for good governance and championing the interests of our people while working extremely hard to win in future elections.

“Abians can expect an unwavering commitment from NNPC to safeguard their rights and interests. We are poised to revitalize democratic liberalism and make NNPP the preferred destination for every Abian who seeks equity, freedom and justice”, the acting NNPP Chairman said.

He said robust and constructive opposition which the party would provide, would enable Abians get what they truly deserve in governance.

The NNPP acting Chairman, who tipped his party to record great performance in future elections, explained that mechanisms would be put in place to address aggrieved members’ complaints, adding that such strategies would help in membership drive and cohesive focus.

Apugo who said that the visions of NNPP founder, Boniface Aniebonam, for peace, freedom and social justice, would be actualized, saluted Ukpai Iro Ukpai the former guber candidate of the party and other candidates for flying the party’s flag in the last general polls in Abia.
