—Ask him to apologize for insulting them during screening—
It was a rowdy session at the chambers of the Abia State House of Assembly today Wednesday 22nd November 2023,during the screening of the 17 Transition Commitee Chairmen and their Deputies nominated by Abia Governor Alex Otti.
During the screening, the lawmaker representing Ugwunagbo State Constituency Hon Chijioke Uruakpa drew the attention of the house that the list before them was Transition Commitee Chairmen and not “Mayors” as reported in the media.
The Speaker Emmanuel Emeruwa in his ruling directed all the nominees to introduce themselves as TC Chairmen and not “Mayors”
PUO Reports that when the Transition Committee Chairman of Ohafia local Government Area Chief David Ogba Onuoha was asked to introduce himself, he dared the lawmakers and insisted that he is Mayor Nominee and not TC Chairman”Wether the lawmakers like it or not, I am a Mayor nominee for Ohafia, not TC Chairman” he stated.
This development led the lawmakers to shout him down and insisted that he must apologize to them or forget his screening, he however later apologized to the legislators and withdrew his statement.
In his remarks over his nomination, lawmaker representing Ohafia North State Constituency Hon Mandela Obasi asked the house to forgive him saying that his appointment is like that of Dangote accepting to be a Senator.
