The Caretaker Committee Chairman of the APC in Rivers State, Tony Okocha, has declared that President Tinubu’s attempt to reconcile the differences between State Governor Simi Fubara and FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has failed, leading to an irreconcilable breakdown. Speaking at a press conference in Abuja on Thursday, Okocha expressed his disassociation from the collapsed mediation, highlighting the persistence of the crisis in the state.

Furthermore, Okocha criticized the actions of the four members of the state House of Assembly, led by factional Speaker Edison Ehie, who approved Governor Fubara’s 2024 fiscal year budget, stating that their actions were based on illegality and would not be recognized.

In a strategic move, Okocha revealed that the APC is actively courting Wike to join the party, with the anticipation that upon his defection, he would assume the role of the party’s leader in the state. The political landscape in Rivers State remains tense as the discord shows no signs of resolution.
