In his usual spirit of philanthropy and in advancement of President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, Chief Tony C Okocha KSC JP DSSRS, the Most Performing Rivers State Representative on the NDDC Board, visited schools in Rivers State to celebrate ‘World Education Day’ and distributed educational materials, JAMB forms, awarded scholarships, and more to students.

The schools visited were randomly selected across the three Senatorial Districts of Rivers State.

In the Rivers Southeast Senatorial District, the Rivers NDDC Rep visited Community Primary School 1 & 2, and Community Secondary School, all in Kaani 1, Khana LGA of Rivers State. There, he distributed educational materials, JAMB forms, and awarded scholarships to indigent students.

Upon entering Kaani Community, Chief Okocha was warmly received and adorned with traditional attire by the Paramount Ruler of Kani Community, HRH Chief Godwin Barikpoa Apere, in the presence of the Executive Chairman of Khana LGA, Hon. Thomas Bariere DSSRS, Comrade Celestine Akpobari, and other distinguished sons and daughters of Khana LGA.

The entourage then moved to the Rivers East Senatorial District, where they visited Community Primary School Rumorosi and Community Secondary School Rumuapara, both in Obio-Akpor LGA. Similar educational materials were distributed and scholarships were awarded. Chief Okocha was received in Obio-Akpor by the Executive Chairman of Obio-Akpor LGA, ably represented by the Vice Chairman of the Council, Hon. Lady Chinyeru Agbara (JP).

Next, the convoy proceeded to the Rivers West Senatorial District and gathered at County Grammar School Ahoada East, where similar items were delivered. They were received by the Executive Chairman of Ahoada East LGA, Chief Hon. Barr. Ben Eke, and other stakeholders.

The visit concluded at the University of Port Harcourt, where Chief Tony C Okocha KSC JP DSSRS was once again greeted with a rousing welcome by the students. He was received by the Vice Chancellor of Uniport, represented by the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Admin), Prof. Clifford Opurum Obiye.

It was intriguing to see the joy on the faces of students in all the schools visited as they echoed the praises of President Tinubu, Chief Tony Okocha, and the Renewed Hope Mantra.

It is worthy of note that this visit is not an Educational Empowerment Programme of the NDDC, but rather an incentive from the Rivers State Office of the NDDC in commemoration of World Education Day.
