Striker Victor Osimhen of the Super Eagles stated that he hopes to leave Nigeria with a memorable performance at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, which is now taking place in Ivory Coast.
Osimhen, who assisted Jose Peseiro’s team in getting to the quarterfinals, has been one of the AFCON’s most impressive players.
Over the course of the match over the weekend, the Napoli attacker caused problems for the Cameroonian defense by setting up Ademola Lookman for Nigeria’s opening goal.
The 25-year-old has only scored one goal in the AFCON which was against Equatorial Guinea.
“I want to win something with this great squad,” Osimhen was quoted by The Guardian UK reporter Osasu Obayiuwana as saying.
“I want to give Nigeria something that they will remember. I’m giving everything to come home with the [AFCON] trophy.”
Osimhen will hope to lead Nigeria to victory when they face Angola in the last-8.
