Before Nigeria plays Angola in Friday’s 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) round of 16, Spanish La Liga team Cádiz sent a message to Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali wishing him a speedy recovery.
Nwabali’s AFCON exploits were also praised by Cádiz, who called the Chippa United player the “GOAT.”
Remember how Super Eagles manager Jose Peseiro began the competition by selecting Nwabali over Francis Uzoho as his first choice.
Nwabali sustained an injury during Nigeria’s AFCON last-16 win against Cameroon.
The 27-year-old was replaced by Uzoho after he was taken off in the 80th minute for a suspected knee injury after colliding with Cameroonian attacker Georges-Kévin N’Koudou.
“All the luck in the world for GOAT Nwabali to be recovered for Nigeria’s next round in AFCON,” the official account of Cádiz Club de Fútbol in Nigeria tweeted over the weekend.
