FCT, Benue, Ekiti, and other regions appoint new police commissioners

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Ekiti, Benue, and two other states have authorized the appointment and posting of additional Commissioners of Police (CPs) by the Police Service Commission (PSC) in light of the nation’s growing insecurity.

This was revealed in a statement released on Wednesday by Ikechukwu Ani, the Commission’s Head of Press and Public Relations.

The statement names CP Beneth Igwe as the FCT’s new commissioner of police.

He was previously the FCT Command’s DCP Operations.

Akinwale Kunle Adeniran of Ekiti State, Mohammed Umar Abba of Adamawa State, Olughemiga Emmanuel Adesina of Benue State, and Peter Ukachi Opara of Osun State are the other recently appointed CPs.

The others are Hassan Abdu Yabnet in Plateau State, Abayomi Oladipo Peter in Ondo State, David Iloyanomon in Taraba State, Ademola Waheed Ayilara in Akwa Ibom State, and Abaniwonda Surajudeen Olufemi in Delta State.

The PSC Chairman, Dr Solomon Arase, warned the new CPs that the Commission will not accept any excuse for failure to provide effective and efficient leadership.

It was reported that insecurity has continued to surge in the country.

In one of the latest incidents, two monarchs were killed Ekiti State.
