Former Peoples Democratic Party deputy national chairman Bode George has advised the party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, against running for office again in 2027.
George stated that since Atiku would be too old to run for president in 2027, he should step down and let younger candidates seek office.
George stated, “My brother Atiku Abubakar was 77 years old last year and he will be 81 years old by 2027,” when speaking to reporters in Abuja.
“Atiku should be in a situation where he plays like the big uncle in the room or the elder in the room.
“What would anybody carry me now to do because I’m heading to 80 years and I want to go and be minister, to do what?
“Let’s mentor the younger generation and let’s be consistent with our strong belief in our party norms.”
