Suspended UNICAL dean, lawyer granted bail in response over alleged sexual harassment

Probation was granted to Prof. Cyril Ndifon, the suspended Dean of the University of Calabar’s Faculty of Law, by a Federal High Court in Abuja on Friday.

Sunny Anyanwu, his attorney, who was also charged with a crime alongside him by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offenses Commission (ICPC), was also granted bail by the court.

Ndifon received a bail of N250 million with two sureties, while Anyanwu, his attorney, received a bail of N50 million with two sureties.

According to reports, the professor and his attorney are facing amended charges of four counts of alleged sexual harassment and conspiracy to obstruct the course of justice.

The trial judge, Justice James Omotoso, while ruling on the bail application, said “the defendants must file an undertaking not to interfere with the case, readiness to attend trial and not to cause delay”.

The judge later adjourned the matter till Monday, February 12, for continuation of hearing.
