Lamidi Apapa, a former factional chairman of the Labour Party (LP), claims he is still fighting for the position of party leader.

The side supporting Apapa stated that the former chairman is unfazed by the Court of Appeal’s decision from March 6, 2024, in Abuja.

Julius Abure’s position as the party’s chairman had been confirmed by the ruling.

Abayomi Arabambi, the faction’s spokesperson for Apapa, claimed he had petitioned the Supreme Court to reverse the Appeal Court’s decision.

On Sunday, he gave a speech to reporters in the capital of Ogun State, Abeokuta.

As stated by Arabambi: “The Acting National Chairman of Labour Party Lamidi Apapa has successfully filed an appeal on the 6th day of March 2024 and has stayed the execution of the Judgement delivered in favour of Julius Abure by Abuja court of Appeal in the Supreme Court through a motion for stay of execution filed on Thursday the 7th day of March 2024, 24 hours after the most bizarre, disturbing and corrupt judgement ever delivered by any justices of the Court of Appeal in Nigeria history.”

Abure had battled Apapa over the leadership of the Labour Party since the 2023 general election.
