Pau Cubarsi, a defender for Barcelona, has explained how he prevented Victor Osimhen from scoring during their UEFA Champions League match on Tuesday.
On that evening, the La Liga winners overcame Napoli 3-1 to secure their spot in the quarterfinals.
In the match, Cubarsi—who was playing in his first Champions League match against the Partenopei—tamed Osimhen.
Early in the game, the 17-year-old made a smart tackle to block Osimhen from scoring.
The Nigerian was also prevented by the center-back from connecting on a risky cut-back from Zambo Anguissa.
Throughout the entire game, Osimhen only managed one shot on goal.
“Xavi (Barcelona coach) gave me all the details to try and stop Osimhen,” the youngster said after the game.
Cubarsi was named Man of the Match after the contest.
