UEFA has recognized former Super Eagles goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama as one of only four goalkeepers in Champions League history to have scored a goal.
The other goalkeepers who accomplished the feat are Ivan Provedel, Sinan Bolat, and Hans-Jorg Butt, according to an article on UEFA’s official website.
Enyeama became a member of the special list on September 9, 2010, during the Israeli team Hapoel Tel Aviv’s 3-1 loss to Olympic Lyon of France.
Later, the goalkeeper joined Lille of Ligue 1, where he had an equally successful career.
During his playing career, Butt scored three goals for Hamburg, Bayer Leverkusen, and Bayern Munich in the Champions League.
Like Enyeama, Bolat and Provedel scored one goal apiece from the penalty spot.
