On Wednesday, the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) broke into the Labour Party secretariat in an attempt to disrupt the party’s end-of-March national convention.

Julius Abure, the party’s national chairman, was also to be fired, according to a demand made by Congress.

Without consulting important parties, the NLC leadership claimed Abure was organizing a “secret” conference.

Abure has been pitted against the NLC and the House of Representatives caucus by the proposed convention.

Abure was charged by the laborers with plotting to overthrow the Labour Party.

The Nigeria Police, however, stopped the demonstrating employees from going into the party secretariat.
