It was stated that during the party’s national convention on Wednesday in Nnewi, Anambra State, Abure and other members of the National Working Committee were reelected.

In a statement released by the party’s Publicity Secretary, Sam Uroupa, the State chapter of the party hailed Abure’s reelection as the national chairman of the party as evidence of his outstanding leadership, unshakable devotion to the party’s principles, and dedication.

He continued by saying that Abure’s reelection represents a vote of confidence from stakeholders and party members in his capacity to lead the organization to new heights.

He asserts that Abure’s resurgence is clearly a result of his expertise, vision, and strategic approach to governing, which also reflects the party’s confidence in and support for him.

The Labour Party has made great strides and expansion under Abure’s direction, both nationally and in Edo State. His emphasis on accountability and openness, together with his inclusive leadership style and focus on grassroots mobilization, have struck a chord with party members and supporters, strengthening the party’s unity and cohesiveness.

“Abure’s type in political party management in Nigeria is rare, he grew the Labour Party from zero level to global prominence.

“As the National Chairman, he has consistently championed the values of the Labour Party, advocating for social justice, equality, and the empowerment of the working class.

“His reelection presents an opportunity for the party to build on its achievements, expand its reach, and further advance its agenda of promoting the welfare and interests of the people”, he said.

Speaking before of the state’s September 21, 2024, gubernatorial election, the party’s state leadership reaffirmed its unflinching support for Olumide Osaigbovo Akpata’s candidacy as a legitimate alternative who will serve the interests of the people.

“As the political landscape evolves, the party remains steadfast in its dedication to promoting good governance, social welfare, and economic prosperity for all residents of Edo State”, he added.

But the party also thanked other members of the National Working Committee who were reelected, along with the party’s national chairman, and pledged to collaborate closely with them to realize the party’s ambitions.

He also expressed his gratitude to Ikechukwu Emetu, the deputy governor of Abia State and chairman of the National Convention Committee, for the convention’s success.
