…Pledges Support for the Association’s Scholarship Scheme
The Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Martin Chike Amaewhule, on Saturday, received an award of excellence from a community based organization, the Evo Development Association, for his exceptional leadership qualities.
The event which was a Dinner/Award Night was organised to honour the Speaker for his outstanding and sterling performance as Speaker of the Tenth Rivers State House of Assembly.
Receiving the award, Rt. Hon. Martin Chike Amaewhule expressed his gratitude to the Association, adding that it is good that the Association places emphasis not only on infrastructural development but also on language preservation.
He commended the Evo Development Association for promoting unity among the people and encouraged them to continue their laudable work of upholding the ideals of the Evo people.
Speaking further, Rt. Hon. Amaewhule declared his affiliation with the Evo Development Association, stating that the event has inspired him to consider himself as part of the Association, committed to the advancement of Evo; and pledged to contribute towards the scholarship program of the Evo Development Association.
He said that the aim was to support the financially disadvantaged students in secondary schools, enabling them to access quality education and pursue their dreams.
The award further attest to the Speaker’s leadership process and his contributions to the development of Rivers State as notable personalities including the Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon Kingsley Chinda, Chief OCJ Okoach SAN and the Executive Chairman of Obio/Akpor Local Government Council, Barr. George Ariolu were in attendance.
