Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Barrister Nyesom Ezenwo Wike – CON, GSSRS , has called on religious leaders to continue to pray for the growth and continuous unity of Nigeria.

2. The Minister made the call in Abuja on Thursday, 4th April 2024, when he received the Prelate of the Methodist Church of Nigeria, His Eminence, Dr Oliver Ali Aba, who paid him a courtesy visit in his office in Abuja.

3. Barrister Wike said nothing meaningful could be achieved in the country without God and called on religious leaders to continue to pray for the salvation, growth, and unity of the country.

4. He said, “We will continue to ask religious leaders to continue to pray for the salvation and growth of Nigeria. Prayer is key. We can do what we think but without God, there is nothing we can achieve”.

5. The Minister remarked that though multiple religions exist in the country, what is important is that all the religions believe in the sincerity of God and also recognize that it is God who has kept and will continue to keep the country together in His wisdom.

6. He stated that the country’s leaders require the help of God to succeed and called on the religious leaders to also pray for the government of President Tinubu to actualize his vision and dream of the Renewed Hope Agenda in the country.

7. He said the leadership of President Tinubu is anchored on God and expressed the belief that the country will come out of the challenges that it is currently facing.

8. Barr. Wike said, “I urge you not to relent. Continue to pray for this administration. Satan is always at work, in the daytime, in the night, even at odd hours. But we do know with your prayers, we will defeat him”.

9. The FCT Minister also pledged the support of the FCT Administration for religious organizations in the country and assured that the request for land allocation by the Methodist Church for the construction of a media outfit and liaison office would be granted.

10.Speaking earlier the Prelate said his visit to the FCT Minister is the first apostolic visit and familiarization tour to the Nation’s capital since he assumed office in 2022.

11.Dr. Ali Aba said the Methodist church is the premier church in Nigeria with almost 182 years of existence, having been established in Badagry, Lagos, in 1842, adding that the church has continued to grow in leaps and bounds, both in the country and in the diaspora.

12.He therefore requested for allocation of land in the FCT for the church to construct a liaison office and a befitting media outfit to enhance evangelism and provide other social amenities, as well as promote a more visible presence of Methodism within the FCT.

13.The Prelate prayed for wisdom and good health for the Minister as he administers the nation’s capital.

14.Also in attendance were the Methodist Archbishop of Abuja Rev, Dr Michael Akinwale, Bishop of Kubwa Diocese Rt. Rev. Dr Ogan Igwe, the chief of Staff to the Minister, Hon Chidi Amadi, Head of Service of the FCTA Dr Samuel Atang, and other senior officials of the FCTA and Methodist Church of Nigeria.
