Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha, the Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Mbutu Ward, Aboh Mbaise LGA, Imo State, has tendered his resignation from the party.

In a resignation letter addressed to The Chairman Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mbutu Ward, Aboh Mbaise LGA, Imo State, Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha expressed his commitment to the party since its inception in 1998. However, citing recent developments within the party, he stated that it no longer aligns with his personal beliefs.

“Regrettably, in recent times, the party has taken on a path that is at variance with my personal beliefs. Despite my attempt to offer counsel, the party is, sadly, no longer able to carry out internal reforms, enforce its own rules, or offer credible opposition to the ruling All Progressives Congress,” his resignation letter read.

Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha emphasized that while the decision to resign was difficult, he believes it is the right one. He assured that despite his resignation, he remains committed to the deepening of democracy and good governance in Nigeria.

His resignation letter, dated April 23, 2024, was copied to the Chairman PDP, Imo State, the National Chairman, PDP, and the Chairman, PDP Board of Trustees.

This resignation is expected to have significant implications within the PDP, particularly in Imo State.
