The Nigerian Army has urged Bloggers, Social Media practitioners and influencers to use their various platforms to strengthen the unity of Nigeria rather than publishing contents capable of causing crises in the Country.
The General Officer Commanding (GOC) 82 Division of the Nigeria Army, Enugu, Major General Hassan Dada,who spoke yesterday at the just concluded 33rd edition of the Nigerian Army Social Media Seminar for Abia State held in Aba, with the theme: “Enhancing National Security Through The Responsible Use Of Social Media.” also urged media practitioners and bloggers to use the social media in reporting to military authorities the excesses of military personnel on duty.
The GOC, who was the special guest of honour of the occasion, reminded Nigerians that in line with the philosophy of the Chief of Army Staff, Lt-General Taoreed Lagbaja, the Army is the brother to all Nigerians.
Earlier in his address , the Chief of Civil military affairs, Army Headquarters, Abuja Major-General N.C. Ugbo, who was represented at event by the Director, Psychological Operations, Department of Civil-Military Affairs, Army Headquarters, Abuja, Brigadier Gen. B.S Keji, said the seminar was aimed at interacting with social media influencers and content creators, with a view to using the social media to promote peace and not crisis in the Country.
The Army noted that it was a crime for civilians to use the camouflage of the Military without authorization by the President and Commander Inchief of the Country or the Governor as such attracts prison sentence.
In his contribution, popular Nollywood actor, Osita Iheme, who featured as a guest star in the event urged the participants to use the social media effectively for National Unity.
Highlight of the event was the Presentation of award to participants at the event.
