If we don’t increase tariff, Nigeria will be thrown into darkness – Power Minister

Nigerians have been sternly instructed by Power Minister Adebayo Adelabu to accept the tariff rise or get ready for total blackouts.

Adelabu issued the warning on Monday, threatening a total power outage in the country within the next three months if the proposed hike in electricity cost is not implemented.

During his appearance before the Senate Committee on Power to inquire about the recent increase in electricity tariffs by the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory

“The entire sector will be grounded if we don’t increase the tariff,” he said.

“With what we have now in the next three months, the entire country will be in darkness if we don’t increase tariffs.

“The increment will catapult us to the next level. We are also Nigerians, we are also feeling the impact.”
