The North West APC has received a warning from the North Central All Progressive Congress, APC, Forum not to support the beleaguered National Chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje, with a vote of confidence.
The forum further noted that Ganduje has already been the target of multiple votes of no confidence from his Kano ward, in addition to various protests, lawsuits, and other forms of agitation; as a result, his continued tenure in that position will only cause the APC to regress and fragment the party.
After the APC North West stakeholders’ meeting last Sunday in Kaduna, Alhaji Saleh Mandung Zazzaga, the forum’s chairman, told reporters in Jos, the capital of the Plateau State, that the stakeholders’ praise for the party’s leadership was somewhat insensitive because
Zazzaga, who served on the Presidential Campaign Council during the previous election, stated that Ganduje should step down since he already has a lot of problems and it would be best for the party if he left without hurting it or putting it in danger of legal trouble.
The Chairman clarified that since their cooperation with the North West APC has been positive, they shouldn’t let things fall apart, particularly in light of Ganduje’s problem.
Additionally, he emphasized that, in accordance with party agreements, Ganduje’s position as the National Chairman of the APC is for the North Central area, and that someone from Nassarawa State or the region is expected to replace the
He claims that in order to retake the seat, the North Central region has been involved in a number of calculated operations, and they won’t let up until their goal is accomplished.
“So we are cautioning the North West APC against any move to back Ganduje because he is from North West. Apart from the crisis rocking Ganduje and its ability to tear the party apart, the seat he is occupying is supposed to be for the North Central, and we are calling on our North West counterparts to support us as we push to reclaim it.
“Come to think of it, the North West already has good positions like the Speaker of the House of Representatives, the Deputy Senate President, among others, and the APC National Chairmanship position that by virtue of party arrangement should be for the North Central is being occupied by Ganduje from the North West.
“In the spirit of fairness and equity, the National Chairmanship position should be occupied by someone from the North Central region, because we too are part of the ruling party and we played a key role in the emergence of President Bola Tinubu at last year’s election, as well as other good performance of the party in different elective positions.
“Notable among the remarkable performance of the North Central region is the winning of five states for the APC out of the six states in the North Central region, that is Benue, Kogi, Niger, Nasarawa and Kwara. So we deserve the leadership position of the party, and we will stand up to any region who wants to deny us of the position.
“We cannot afford to fold our hand and let the position or other benefit that is for the North Central region to be transferred to another region, highjacked or denied us since our region is also a critical stakeholder in the APC,” he said.
Zazzaga urged President Tinubu to step in and restore the North Central region’s privileges.
In addition, he urged everyone in North Central to work with the forum to support Ganduje’s removal so that a legitimate representative from the area may take Ganduje’s place, regardless of their political, professional, ethnoreligious, or other afflictions.
Additionally, he disclosed that the North Central APC Forum’s lawsuit against Ganduje is scheduled for hearing on May 30. As a result, all the good people in the area and interested parties are urged to assist the forum in any way they can, particularly through prayer, in order to ensure the forum’s success.
