A British national named Andrew Wynne has been listed as wanted by Nigeria Police for allegedly conspiring to topple President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
Wynne goes by Andrew Povich or Drew Povey as well.
The Force declared that it had deliberately started an extensive investigation into the ways in which foreign mercenaries planned to topple Nigeria’s democratically elected government.
At Force Headquarters in Abuja on Monday, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the Nigeria Police Force spokesman, made this announcement.
According to Adejobi, the Briton set up “STARS of Nations Schools” and rented a location in Labour House, Abuja, for a “Iva Valley Bookshop” in order to hide his subversive operations.
Adejobi also informed reporters that Wynne gave orders and kept an eye on the developments of the August protests, according to confessions and documented proof.
The foreigner supplied funding and operational advice to effect an illegitimate regime change in Nigeria, the senior police official continued.
He said, “The Nigeria Police Force has launched a comprehensive investigation into the activities of a foreign national and subversive elements plotting to undermine the democratically elected government in Nigeria through unconstitutional regime change and orchestrating violence across the country.
“Following extensive intelligence gathering and collaboration with other security agencies, nine suspects have been apprehended, who received substantial financial backing from foreign sources to destabilize the country.
“Preliminary findings suggest they orchestrated and funded violent protests, disseminated false information, and engaged in other unlawful activities to create anarchy and justify their illegal plot to overthrow the democratically elected government.”
