The media advisor to Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s (LP) presidential candidate in the general elections of 2023, Val Obienyem, has refuted rumors circulating that his principal was taken into custody by the Department of State Services (DSS) at his Anambra State home.
In a statement made public on Tuesday, Obienyem called the reports untrue and unfounded.
As to his statement, Obi was not present in Anambra State at the said occurrence.
“As of Saturday, Mr. Obi was in Rwanda attending significant engagements,” stated Obienyem. Since then, he has made his way back to Nigeria, where he is now a prominent figure in both party and national affairs in Edo State.
“There was no DSS operation at his residence, and no arrest was made.”
