Elu-born philanthropist and human capital developer, Chief Sunday Onuka, has emphasized his commitment to the development of Ohafia Local Government Area, declaring it a top priority under his watch. Onuka, popularly known as “Okeosisi,” made this declaration while addressing a gathering of Ohafia youths during the ongoing New Yam Festival celebration.
Speaking to the enthusiastic crowd, Chief Onuka urged the youth to embrace peace and shun violence as they celebrated the cultural festival. He emphasized the importance of unity and maintaining a peaceful environment as fundamental to fostering growth and development in the region.
The gathering took an unexpected turn when the youths, speaking in unison, drummed support for Chief Onuka, charging him to accept the clarion call of taking up a leadership stand, as chairman in the forthcoming local government elections.
Responding to the appeal, Onuka expressed his readiness to serve, assuring the people that his desire to uplift Ohafia is genuine. He added that he would continue to pray for divine guidance in fulfilling the wishes of the people.
In his remarks, Chief Onuka reaffirmed his vision for a more prosperous Ohafia and reiterated that the development of the region remains sacrosanct. He vowed that, if given the opportunity, he would dedicate his efforts to advancing the welfare of Ohafia residents through strategic projects and initiatives aimed at improving infrastructure and human capital development.
As the local government elections draw near, the name “Onuka” has gained traction, with many viewing him as the only sincere hope of the common Ohafia man, being a strong advocate for growth and progress of Ohafia.
