Janne Andersson, the former head coach of Sweden, has disclosed why he declined the opportunity to lead the Super Eagles of Nigeria.

During the summer, Andersson was one of the coaches connected to the open Super Eagles managing position.

At the time, the 62-year-old was apparently the front-runner for the job.

Regarding the terms of the deal, the manager claimed he turned down approaches from the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).

“Nigeria was very persistent and wanted me to take the job. There were many appealing aspects, but the overall situation wasn’t perfect. It didn’t feel 100 percent right, and it has to feel that way for me to fully commit,” he told Swedish newspaper Hallandsposten.

The 62-year-old said he is thinking carefully about what to do next.

“It would take a lot for me to take on a new coaching job. I am selective and have other things going on, like mentorship and board roles,” he added.
