The daughter of former Delta State Governor James Ibori, Erhriatake Ibori-Suenu, has left the Peoples Democratic Party caucus in the House of Representatives.

In a letter read on the House floor Thursday, Ms. Ibori-Suenu declared her intention to defect to the ruling All Progressives Congress, or APC.

During his tenure as Delta State’s governor from 1999 to 2007, her father, Ibori, is thought to have maintained control over the state’s PDP political apparatus.

The most recent defection to shake the minority caucus is that of Ms. Ibori.

Four Labour Party caucus members had already defected to the APC.
