The deposed Emir, Aminu Ado Bayero, and the Emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi, have been urged by former Kaduna Central Senator Shehu Sani to resolve the Kano Emirate dispute.
Sani proposed that Ado Bayero and Emir Sanusi settle their disagreements on a soccer field.
Sharing on X, Sani wrote: “Kano Emirate tussle: High Court is the quarter-finals, Appeal Court is the semi-finals, and Supreme Court is the final.
“The scores so far are 1:1. I predict a penalty kick between Team Brother Aminu FC and Team Brother Sanusi FC.”
The Federal High Court’s ruling in Kano was overturned by the Appeal Court’s Abuja Division.
After an emirate battle in Kano State, Sanusi’s appointment was declared void by the Kano Federal High Court.
On June 20, 2024, Justice Abubakar Liman of the Federal High Court’s Kano Division issued an order voiding Sanusi’s appointment.
Nonetheless, the Federal High Court’s decision was rejected by the Appeal Court.
Ado Bayero was overthrown by the Kano State administration in 2024, and Sanusi was reinstalled as the Emir.
The Kano Emirate Law of 2019, which established five emirates, was repealed by the Kano State House of Assembly, prompting the action.
