Wife Of Inspector General Of Police Empowers Over 500 Wives of Late Police Officers in Abia.

Dr. Mrs. Elizabeth Egbetokun, the wife of the Inspector General of Police and National President of the Police Officers Wives Association (POWA), empowered over 500 wives of late police officers, Wives of Police Officers in Abia State on Friday.

The event, which held at the International Conference Centre Umuahia, showcased POWA’s commitment to improving the lives of police families through empowerment and welfare initiatives.

Mrs. Ihuoma Okoro, Acting Chairperson of POWA in Abia State, praised Dr. Mrs. Egbetokun’s transformative leadership, noting the numerous empowerment and welfare programs she has championed nationwide.

“You have brought innovative programs that uplift distressed members of the police family, focusing on empowerment, healthcare, education, and infrastructural development. Your tireless efforts inspire countless women to rise above their challenges,” Mrs. Okoro said.

Assistant Inspector General (AIG) of Police for Zone 9, Suleiman Yusuf, commended Dr. Mrs. Egbetokun’s initiatives, emphasizing their importance in harnessing the entrepreneurial potential of police officers’ wives. He assured the National President of POWA of the full support of the Zone 9 leadership for her vision.

Abia State Commissioner of Police, CP Danladi Isa, expressed gratitude to Dr. Mrs. Egbetokun and her team for their impactful visit and the empowerment initiatives extended to the Abia Police Command.

“We are privileged to benefit from the same empowerment programs that POWA and LAPOWA have extended to other states. Your efforts give hope and encouragement to our families,” he remarked.

Dr. Mrs. Egbetokun distributed various empowerment tools to the wives of late police officers, including: Refrigerators, Sewing machines, Grinding machines, Industrial gas cookers, Popcorn machines, Bags of rice, Groundnut oil and Cartons of noodles

The empowerment initiative by the Wife of the Inspector General of Police reflects POWA’s dedication to fostering entrepreneurship, self-reliance, and better living conditions for police families. The visit brought not only material support but also a renewed sense of purpose and encouragement to the beneficiaries who smiled home with the items.

Earlier Dr Elizabeth had paid a courtesy visit to the Executive Governor of Abia State Dr Alex Otti at his Nvosi Country-home.
