Says They Don’t Call Them For Meetings
The members of the Concerned Pensioners in Abia State on behalf of Pensioners of Abia State have passed a vote of no confidence on the leadership of Nigerian Union of Pensioners in Abia State, considering what has transpired between the governor of Abia State and the pensioners in Abia State.
The members made the declaration during their monthly meeting which took place at the Subtreasury Umuahia.
Speaking during the meeting the Coordinator of Abia Concerned Pensioners in Abia State, Chief Emeka Okezie stated that from today 6th February 2025 “Abia Pensioners no longer recognize the executive of NUP in the State, we distance ourselves from them because they are not working for the good, and interest of Abia State pensioners, they don’t call meetings and they are working for their selfish self aggrandisement, emphasised that anybody doing business with them on behalf of Abia Pensioners do so at their own risk”
“We disown them and pass vote of no confidence on them”
He commended the governor of Abia State Dr Alex Chioma Oti for his good works in trying to develop the state.
“We thank him for his numerous infratructural development in the state and lifting the state from dungeon and making it catch up with other states of the federation”
Chief Okezie pleaded with the able, and project oriented governor of Abia State to forgive the pensioners in the state, and cancel the obnoxious MOU signed by the deposed Executive of NUP in Abia State, and pay them their grantuity, and pledged the support of Abia State pensioners to his administration.
Also speaking the Chairman of Concerned Pensioners in Abia State, Elder John Kalu Senior Citizens of the Federal Republic stated that the Abia pensioners have decided to pass a vote of no confidence on the executive of NUP in Abia State.
“This is because they have rejected the pensioners in the state and represented them in a very bad shape, and made life difficult and unbearable for them”
He lamented that most of the pensioners in the state have lost their lives due to their actions, failing to advise government on the welfare of the pensioners.
According to him they never cared to intimate Abia pensioners on their activities with government, that is the reason why they signed MOU with government to forfeit our grantuity, which has never been done in the whole world.
“We therefore call on the Executive governor of Abia State to over look the actions of the leadership of NUP in Abia State and pay them their grantuity” he stated.
