Marcus Rashford had to quit Manchester United, according to manager Ruben Amorim, since he was unable to convince him to support his views.
Rashford is on loan at Aston Villa for the end of the current campaign.
The Midlands club has the option to make the deal permanent for £40 million and will pay up to 75% of his salary.
Amorim has now disclosed that he exiled the 27-year-old due to his inability to communicate with him.
“What I say is I couldn’t put Marcus to see the way you’re supposed to play football and to train the way I see it,” Amorim said.
“And sometimes you have one player who is really good with one coach, and the same player with another coach is different. I just wish the best to Rashford and Unai Emery, and I hope they can connect because he’s a very good player.”
When United was held to a 1-1 draw at Ipswich Town in November, Rashford scored the first goal of Amorim’s tenure.
He also began games against Viktoria Plzen and Everton.
