Shehu Sani, a former senator from Kaduna Central, has denounced the extended arrest of IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu and the indefinite postponement of his trial.
According to Sani, holding Kanu in custody for an extended period of time is unjust.
The former Kaduna lawmaker stated that injustice is not the path to justice in a post on X.
Sani claims that it is completely unjust to keep a man in extended detention and put off his case indefinitely.
“I am aware that there are feelings and anxieties, but injustice will never lead to justice.
Stopping the clock won’t solve an issue. I’ve spent a lot of time in prison, so I understand the suffering and agony of being alone.
“Until you experience the cell you will never know the cell. Just my personal view.”
Kanu’s trial was adjourned “sin die” yesterday by Abuja Federal High Court Justice Binta Nyako.
Justice Nyako had withdrawn from Kanu’s trial last year after the IPOB leader asked her to resign from his case.
The Federal High Court’s Chief Justice, John Tsoho, had ordered Nyako to proceed with the trial but had declined to transfer Kanu’s case to a different judge.
Because of Kanu’s advocacy for Biafra’s actualization, the Nigerian government has accused him of terrorism.
