Adolphus Wabara’s suspension as Chairman of the Board of Trustees has been revoked by the Peoples Democratic Party’s National Working Committee (NWC).

Recalls that Wabara was suspended by the party’s Abia State Working Committee, or SWC, on Tuesday.

In a same vein, Wabara’s suspension by the Abia State PDP Chairman has been rejected by the party’s support group, Frontiers for Change and Progress, which called the suspension a “huge joke.”

Additionally, the group announced that Abraham Amah, the Abia State PDP chairman, had been expelled for alleged impersonation.

Debo Ologunagba, the party’s national publicity secretary, claimed in a statement that the alleged suspension was against the PDP Constitution (as modified in 2017) and did not adhere to due process.

After the Abia state chapter of the party suspended Wabara for supporting Governor Alex Otti for a second term in October 2023, just five months into the governor’s office, Ologunagba called the action dangerous and unconstitutional.

“The attention of the National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has been drawn to the purported suspension of the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of our great Party, Distinguished Senator Adolphus Wabara from the Party.

“The NWC categorically dismisses the purported suspension as null and void and of no effect whatsoever not being consistent with the provisions of the Constitution of the PDP (as amended in 2017) and laid down Rules of our great Party.

“For emphasis no State Working Committee has the power to suspend or take any disciplinary action against a member of the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the Party without due recourse to the NWC as clearly provided under Section 57 (7) of the Constitution of the PDP (as amended in 2017),” Ologunagba said.
