Vladimir Selin, who heads a division of the Russian defense ministry, and Pavel Fradkov, a deputy minister of defense, are among the individuals in the Russian government who have been sanctioned by the British government.
The British foreign office also sanctioned two companies connected to Russia’s nuclear energy firm Rosatom and Artem Chaika, whose extractives company assists Russian state-owned enterprises, in a statement released on Friday.
The penalties target those with ties to Russian President Vladimir Putin’s inner circle, the foreign office said.
“In order to maintain the pressure on Putin, I am announcing more sanctions. “On the front lines, Ukrainians are fighting for their nation’s future and the European concept of sovereignty,” stated Foreign Minister David Lammy.
The Russian embassy in London has not yet responded to the news.
